Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about how our private, mobile training works. Anything else, just ask.

What is the process for getting my CCW or concealed carry permit?

We decide on a date for an instructor to arrive to your location. We go over the course curriculum in detail until the instructor feels you understand the information. A written test will be administered at the end of the lesson. A day at the range will be scheduled for the live fire portion of the class. Upon passing you will be issued a certificate of completion. Then you apply to your local pistol licensing agency (if you took the white glove package, we would be doing this for you), schedule your fingerprints, and then wait for a decision.

What does the Handgun Maintenance Tutorial include?

You will provide your instructor with the Make and Model and caliber of your firearm. You will have the flexibility to meet your instructor at the range or have them come directly to your home. During this private session, your instructor will guide you through the following:

  • Proper Maintenance: Learn how to correctly fieldstrip, clean, inspect, and lubricate your firearm using the cleaning products you already own.
  • Inspection & Wear: Identify key parts to check for wear and tear over time.
  • Product Education: Review the proper application and use of various solvents, lubricants, and cleaning tools.
  • Hands-On Cleaning: Complete one thorough, supervised cleaning of your firearm.
  • Care Packages: If you do not currently have cleaning supplies, a custom care package can be put together for you upon request.

What does the In-Home Threat Response training include?

This private, customized session is conducted directly in your home to help you and your household establish practical safety and defense protocols. Your instructor will walk through your home environment to help you:

  • Assess Layout & Vulnerabilities: Evaluate entry points, high-risk zones, and safe rooms.
  • Establish Family Action Plans: Create clear communication, movement, and sheltering strategies for various emergency scenarios.
  • Review Home Defense Options: Discuss realistic defensive positioning, secure storage solutions, and response readiness tailored specifically to your home’s layout and your family’s needs.

What does Precision & Threat Accountability training include?

This advanced private training session focuses on mindset, target discrimination, decision-making under stress, and tactical shooting accuracy. Your instructor will guide you through advanced drills designed to:

  • Refine Shot Placement: Improve precision, speed, and accuracy under realistic performance stressors.
  • Threat Discrimination: Train your visual processing and decision-making speed to accurately identify and isolate legitimate threats versus non-threats.
  • Accountability & Control: Emphasize absolute responsibility for every round fired, ensuring strict muzzle awareness, trigger discipline, and legal/tactical situational control.

When is payment due?

Full payment is due once a date is scheduled for your classes to begin, within 24 hours to confirm the scheduled date(s). You can pay online from the course page, or by invoice via Stripe or Chase POS. See Payment in our scheduling & refund policy.

What is the refund policy?

All monies paid toward course tuition are strictly non-refundable. See Refunds in our scheduling & refund policy for the full terms.

What is the rescheduling policy?

You may reschedule your course one (1) time, with a written request at least 48 hours before your scheduled start time. How to request it, fees and deadlines are under Rescheduling in our scheduling & refund policy.

Are your classes private or in a large group?

All training with Oak Arms Training Group is strictly private and customized to you. We focus on the quality of your experience over the quantity of students, avoiding crowded classrooms or rushed public lectures.

Can I bring friends, family, or colleagues with me?

Yes, we can accommodate handling a small group if you have others who are interested. However, group sizes are capped at no more than 6 people due to limited space at the range for the live fire portion.

What do I need to do to get started?

To get started, simply complete our online enrollment form. Once your course and dates are coordinated with our team, we will provide you with a clear checklist of what is needed for your specific classroom and range session.
